EXAM SESSION CALENDAR

WINTER SESSION
Students who wish to obtain a score for the purpose of applying for an international mobility grant (Erasmus+, Overseas, etc.) are invited to register for the winter session examinations.
All exams will be held onsite at Presidio San Niccolò (Via Roma 56) with the following calendar:
A1 LEVEL EXAM
- Wednesday 21 January, 2026, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., room 401 (4th floor, San Niccolò)
A2 LEVEL EXAM and GERMAN LANGUAGE I EXAM (LETTORATO)
- Friday 16 January, 2026, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., room 401 (4th floor, San Niccolò); please, bring a laptop/tablet with internet/wifi connection
B1 LEVEL EXAM:
- Friday 16 January, 2026, 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., room 401 (4th floor, San Niccolò); please, bring a laptop/tablet with internet/wifi connection
B2 LEVEL EXAM:
- Friday 16 January, 2026, 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., room 401 (4th floor, San Niccolò)
C1 LEVEL EXAM:
- Wednesday 21 January, 2026, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., room 401 (4th floor, San Niccolò)

Deadline for enrolment in exams:
German Language Lettorato / A2/B1/B2/C1 Idoneità exams: 14 January, 2026
Students should bring with them:
- a valid ID with photo
- a hard copy dictionary is allowed for the written component (composition)
- for A2 Level and German language exam: a laptop/tablet with internet/wifi connection. Please, check your Unisi credentials (username and password) to access Moodle CLA. Access key to take the exam will be communicated during the test.

If you seek validation of an international certificate (Goethe Institut, TELC, Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch ÖSD, ) awarded no more than three years ago, please upload a copy of your certificate (in PDF, JPG or PING format) on our platform through this link and wait for a response.
Please note: If you are not able to come to the exam, remember to cancel your enrolment before the deadline, or send an email to gemperle@unisi.it after the enrolment deadline.
IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN IN ORDER TO ATTEND A GERMAN BEGINNERS' COURSE.
German language courses are OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS enrolled in the University of Siena.
In particular, they are aimed to those students who:
- must pass the German Language I exam (Lettorato, A1 + A2 annual course, from the end of September 2025 to June 2026)
- would like to pass a German proficiency (idoneità) exam (without a mark out of thirty) with the following codes:
- A2: L99968
- B1: L99967
- B2: L99966
- C1: L99965
- wish to acquire the basic knowledge or to improve preliminary language skills in order to obtain surplus credits or a language centre certificate and a digital Open Badge (please, see the paragraph Exams, Credits, Language Centre (CLA) Certificates and International Certifications).

- The following German language courses are held at the San Niccolò Building on Via Roma, 56 (Porta Romana, Siena):
- All of Dr. Katharina Gemperle’s courses are blended courses: lessons in the classroom are integrated with self-study on the Moodle platform.

GERMAN LANGUAGE I (LETTORATO) – ANNUAL A1 and A2 COURSE for BEGINNERS
The course is for students from the DFCLAM department who need to pass the GERMAN LANGUAGE I exam. The German Language I (Lettorato) consists of an annual course divided into two semestral courses: A1 in the first semester and A2 in the second semester. The A2 level is required in order to be admitted to the German Language I exam. The exam at the end of the second semster, in fact, is preparatory for the professor’s language exam. Alternatively, students can present a internationally recognized certificate (see list at the bottom of this page) Please note: if you have any questions regarding the German Language Single Subject course (CORSO MONOGRAFICO) contact the PROFESSOR or visit the department website.
Courses 1st semester 2025-2026
A1 LEVEL – Fall semester (29/09/2025 - 16/01/2026)
1st PART OF THE ANNUAL COURSE OF GERMAN LANGUAGE 1 (Lettorato) and A2 Idoneità (exam code L99968)
Enrolment in the course requires an A1 level.

The course takes place in person, with the following schedule:
- Monday 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. (the whole semester)
- Monday 4:15 – 5:45 p.m., only from 29/09/2025 to 14/11/2025
- Thursday 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. (the whole semester)

- Thursday 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

German Lettorato and Idoneità courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (https://www.goethe.de/ins/it/it/spr/kon/stu.html).
The Language centre (CLA) issues a language proficiency certificate (upon student’s request) and a digital Open Badge for the levels A1 to B2, to those who pass the final exams. NOTE: The certificate issued by the Language Centre is not an external certification.
Students interested in obtaining an external certificate can sit the exam at the GOETHE INSTITUT.
APPROVAL OF INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATES OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE BY THE UNIVERSITY LANGUAGE CENTRE:
The Language Centre approves certificates issued by these official institutions, if obtained no more than 3 years ago:
- Goethe Institut
- Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch ÖSD
- TELC
For the validation of the above-mentioned certificates, student must upload the document on SIGIL exclusively through this link (PDF, JPG or PNG format, max. 5Mb) and patiently wait for a reply.
