GENERAL INFORMATION
Our French language courses allow you to:
- take a French language “idoneità” (pass-fail) exam at A2, B1, B2, and C1 levels
- obtain a French language certificate (useful for Erasmus applications or CVs)
- take a FRENCH LANGUAGE I (“Lettorato”) exam (DFCLAM, cod.102884) after attending the LETTORATO DI LINGUA FRANCESE I course and passing the written and oral exams
- obtain EXTRA CREDITS or CLA ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE
The DELF certification and ESABAC diploma are approved by us if issued within three years of your enrolment in the University of Siena.

French language I (Lettorato) – DFCLAM code 102884 with A2 level first semester
The lessons will begin on October 3, 2024 with a presentation and entrance evaluation:

Annual FRENCH LANGUAGE I course – (DFCLAM, code 102884) – A2 and B1 French Idoneità exam
100- hour language course from October 3rd 2024 to May 2025.
Please note: at the end of the course the level reached will be B1, with attention given to grammar and the written language (see program below).
This course is for beginners; it allows one to acquire a precise knowledge of basic phonetics, spelling, and grammar, reaching a B1 level of French. At the end of the first semestre those students who attend the “lettorato” course and do not wish to continue can take the A2 written and oral exams.

B2 level French language preparation for Idoneità (exam code L99986) for students attending all faculties - Lecturer: Dr. Liliane Izzi
100- hour language course from October 3rd, 2024 to May 2025
Please note: At the end of the course, students will have reached B2 level, with greater attention placed on grammar and written work. It is indicated for students who already have a B1 level and for those who have taken a French Language 1 ("lettorato") course. Grammar and vocabulary will be treated in greater depth, and written and oral language on specific topics will be improved (see program).
The course includes a placement test to evaluate the current level, and a midterm exam (written and oral) at the end of every semester and allows students to earn 6 credits. For those students who do not have the exam as part of their curriculum, a CLA certificate will be provided.

C1 level French language course (Idoneità, exam code L99985) for all students enrolled in the university.
100- hour language course from October 3rd, 2024 to May 2025
Please note: Students will reach a C1 level by the end of the course, with the possibility of taking an external C1/C2 exam at the Institut Français Florence. Possibility of obtaining 6 credits in curriculum and awarding of CLA attendance certificate.
The course is open to those students who have passed a B2 level exam or equivalent. Further improvement and deeper knowledge of written and oral competencies, with greater attention to the levels of language. The specific parts of the C1 exam include summaries of documents, essays, convincing oral presentation and debate (see program).
The course includes a placement test and a midterm exam (written and oral) at the end of each semester.
