French courses are held in the San Niccolò building, Via  Roma 56 (Porta Romana)

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Our French language courses start on 2nd October 2025 and allow you to:

  • take a French language “idoneità” (pass-fail) exam at A2, B1, B2, and C1 levels
  • obtain a French language certificate (useful for Erasmus applications or CVs)
  • take a FRENCH LANGUAGE I (“Lettorato”) exam (DFCLAM, cod.102884) after attending the LETTORATO DI LINGUA FRANCESE I course and passing the written and oral exams
  • obtain EXTRA CREDITS or CLA ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

 

The DELF certification and ESABAC diploma are approved by us if issued within three years of your enrolment in the University of Siena.

If you have been awarded one of these, you should upload a copy of your certificate (in PDF, JPG or PING format) on our platform through this link and wait for a response.

EXAM SESSIONS OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS

 

WINTER SESSION 

 

Students who wish to obtain a score for the purpose of applying for an international mobility grant (Erasmu+, Overseas, etc.) are invited to register for the winter session examinations. 

All exams consist of a written and an oral test, and will be held onsite at Presidio San Niccolò (Via Roma 56) with the following calendar:

 

*A2, B1 FRENCH LANGUAGE EXAM (Idoneità) and FRENCH LANGUAGE 1 (LETTORATO):

  • Monday, 26 January 2026, 09:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., classroom 356 (3rd floor, San Niccolò)

Enrolment deadline: 23 January 2026

 

*B2, C1 and C2 FRENCH LANGUAGE EXAM (Idoneità):

  • Wednesday, 28 January 2026, 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., classroom 401 (4th floor, San Niccolò)

For the written composition sections of level B2, C1 and C2, please bring a monolingual paper dictionary.

Annual French Language 1 (Lettorato) Course for the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFCLAM) and Language Proficiency Examinations A2–B1–B2–C1 (Idoneità) Courses – Dr L. Izzi

  1. B1 Idoneità (L99987): Annual Course (Lettorato) preparatory to the Frech Language I Course (102884)

Duration: 2 October 2025 – early May 2026

  • Monday: 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. – Room 468 (4th floor, S. Niccolò)
  • Thursday: 4:15 – 5:45 p.m. – Room 468 (4th floor, S. Niccolò)
  • Friday: 8:30 – 10:15 a.m. – Room 349B (3rd floor, S. Niccolò) 

 

This course is also open to complete beginners and allows participants to reach A2 level by the end of January, and B1 level by the end of the academic year.

This course grants 6 ECTS credits as part of the curriculum. For students unable to include the course in their study plan, a certificate issued by the CLA is available.
