All exams will be held onsite at Presidio San Niccolò (Via Roma 56) with the following calendar:

 

GERMAN LANGUAGE I (“Lettorato”)

  • Friday June 7, 2024 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., room 447 (4th floor San Niccolò building)

 

 A1 LEVEL TEST:

  • Friday June 14, 2024: 12:00 – 1.45 p.m., room 447 (4th  floor San Niccolò)

 

A2 LEVEL EXAM 

  • Friday June 14, 2024 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., room 447 (4th  floor San Niccolò); please bring a computer/tablet with internet/wifi connection

 

B1 LEVEL EXAM:

  • Tuesday June 11, 2024, 2.00 – 4.00 p.m., room 349B (3rd floor San Niccolò)please bring a computer/tablet with internet/wifi connection

 

B2 LEVEL EXAM:

  • Tuesday June 11, 2024, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., room 455  (4th floor San Niccolò)

Deadline for enrolment in German Language I exam: June 2, 2024

Students should present a valid ID with photo.

A hard copy dictionary is allowed for the written component (composition).

Those students who seek validation of an international certificate (Goethe Institut, TELC, Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch ÖSD, ) are requested to

a) register for the exam

b) send a scanned copy of the original certificate to Katharina Gemperle, at: gemperle@unisi.it by the exam deadline

 

Please note: If you are not able to come to the exam, remember to cancel your enrolment before the deadline, or send an email to gemperle@unisi.it after the enrolment deadline.

GERMAN COURSES

German language courses are OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS enrolled in the University of Siena.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT STUDENTS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN IN ORDER TO ATTEND A GERMAN BEGINNERS' COURSE.

 

The following German language courses are held at the San Niccolò Building on Via Roma, 56 (Porta Romana):

All of Katharina Gemperle’s courses are blended courses: lessons in the classroom are integrated with self-study on the Moodle platform.

ANNUAL A1 and A2 COURSE for BEGINNERS divided into two semesters.

The course is for:

- students from the DFCLAM department who need to pass the GERMAN LANGUAGE I exam. The German Language I (“Lettorato”) consists of an annual course divided into two semestral courses: A1 in the first semester and A2 in the second semester. The A2 level is required in order to be admitted to the German Language I exam. The exam at the end of the second semster, in fact, is preparatory for the professor’s language exam. Alternatively, students can present a internationally recognized certificate (see list at the bottom of this page)  Please note: if you have any questions regarding the German Language Single Subject course (“CORSO MONOGRAFICO”) contact the PROFESSOR or visit the department website

 

- students that choose A2 LEVEL GERMAN LANGUAGE ("IDONEITA') - exam code L99968

- students who are interested in learning the fundmentals of the language without inserting the exam in their curriculum. They will be awarded a certificate from the CLA (see below).

 

 

A1 LEVEL and GERMAN LANGUAGE 1 (“lettorato”),  first semester (29/09/2023 - 19/01/2024)

Level: beginners

Friday 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.

A2 LEVEL and GERMAN LANGUAGE 1 (“lettorato”), second semester (26/02/2024 - 07/06/2024) –  A2“Idoneità” (exam code L99968), 2nd part

Enrolment in the course requires an A1 level.

B1 LEVEL GERMAN COURSE, first semester - (29/09/2023 - 19/01/2024),: B1 “Idoneità” (exam code L99967)

 

The course requires a basic knowledge of German at A2 level (see program below)

B2 LEVEL GERMAN COURSE, second semester (26/02/2024 - 07/06/2024) –  B2 “Idoneità” (exam code 99966)

 

A prerequisite to the course is a B1 level of German.

EXAMS, CREDITS, AND CERTIFICATES

Students who are not awarded credits for a German language exam and who attend at least 70% of the course and pass the final test, will receive a certificate.

The certificate issued by the Language Center is not an external certification. Nevertheless, our lessons follow the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students interested in obtaining an external certificate can sit the exam at the GOETHE INSTITUT of Rome or at an institution which collaborates with the Goethe Institut, for example, the Deutsches Institut of Florence.

 

APPROVAL OF INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATES OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE BY THE UNIVERSITY LANGUAGE CENTER:

 

The Language Center approves certificates issued by the these official institutions:

- Goethe Institut

- Oesterreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch OSD

- TELC

Please contact our German teacher during her office hours for certification approval. You should bring the original certificate with a photocopy (front and back), and a valid ID with photocopy.

Approval of external certificates is given during exam sessions. You need to:

1) enrol in the exam

2) contact our German teacher during her office hours with the original certificate and a photocopy (front and back), as well as a valid ID with relative photocopy.

Otherwise, if submitting online, you should send a scanned copy of your certificate to Katharina Gemperle, who will decide if it can be approved: gemperle@unisi.it
